Marius Borg Høiby, 29, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, has been sentenced to four years in prison. The Oslo district court handed down the verdict on Monday morning following a trial that detailed Høiby's drug addiction and self-made videos of sexual encounters.
Høiby was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of domestic violence, drug charges, and other crimes. He was originally accused of 40 charges, ranging from rape to traffic violations, which carried a maximum possible sentence of 16 years in prison. While he was convicted on two rape charges, he was acquitted of the other two. Additionally, he was sentenced to a two-year restraining order against one of his victims.
Høiby, who pleaded not guilty to the most severe accusations including rape, has the option to appeal the verdict. The trial took place while his mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, came under pressure over her ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
