At least 12 people were killed and 309 injured, including a French national, in a missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on October 10. The strike, described as the deadliest on Saudi soil in more than a decade, caused the main international airport to remain closed. The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels for the attack, labeling it a full-fledged war crime.
The violence escalated on Sunday with another strike on Riyadh's international airport. An unidentified projectile hit Terminal 4, causing a fire that killed one person and wounded eleven others. Additionally, Saudi authorities reported that King Fahd International Airport in Dammam was also attacked.
In response to the strikes, Houthi rebels warned airlines, travelers, and airport workers to stay away from Saudi airports, stating that worse is yet to come. The rebels also claimed that Saudi aircraft had struck the airport in the rebel-held Yemeni capital of Sanaa.
The strikes have drawn condemnation from the United Nations and the European Union, while Washington considers its response. Saudi Arabia has vowed to retaliate against the Houthi rebels following these attacks.
