A report by the U.N. children's agency reveals that online sexual abuse of minors is on the rise. Approximately 20 million internet-using children across 21 countries were subjected to sexual exploitation or abuse on digital platforms within a single year.
The findings are based on a survey of around 21,000 young people. According to the report, more than one in five children aged 12 to 17 were targeted on digital platforms.
Social media platforms were the primary location for these incidents, accounting for almost 60 per cent of reported abuse.
