South Africa's Parliament has announced plans to establish an impeachment committee to reinvestigate allegations against President Cyril Ramaphosa. The speaker of parliament will begin the process of setting up the committee and is expected to submit an advisory report that will form the basis of the investigation when lawmakers meet on Tuesday.

The committee will examine allegations that the president committed serious misconduct by hiding the theft of more than half a million dollars. This cash heist scandal, involving a robbery at his farm, previously led Ramaphosa to consider resigning four years ago.

President Ramaphosa has ruled out resigning and has rejected calls to step down. He stated that he will contest the report concerning his handling of the robbery after a court ruling resurrected the scandal.
