A Canadian woman of Chinese origin has been arrested by Belgian police on suspicion of espionage. The suspect served as an intern at SHAPE, a NATO military headquarters site in Mons, Belgium.

According to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, the woman is suspected of spying on behalf of a third country and being a member of a criminal organization.

Belgian authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect. Furthermore, the country for which the intern is suspected of spying has not been named.
