Israel has been largely left out of talks to reach an initial deal to halt the war with Iran. Analysts say this silence reflects Israeli worries that such an agreement will not significantly degrade Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid stated on Monday that the deal being discussed between the U.S. and Iran fails to achieve any of Israel's goals for the war. Lapid criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to influence a better agreement and for allowing Washington to negotiate with little Israeli input.
Posting on Telegram, Netanyahu stated that achieving the necessary goals would require dismantling Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and removing enriched nuclear material from its territory.
