UN doubles Lebanon aid appeal to nearly $822 million amid Israel war

humanitarian crisis international aid armed conflict fundraising

The United Nations launched an urgent humanitarian appeal on Friday, seeking nearly $640 million to assist Lebanon over the next six months. This amount doubles the funding previously required to meet surging humanitarian needs as the war enters its fourth month.

The UN is seeking an additional $331.5 million to tackle the worsening humanitarian crisis. This is the second such appeal since the escalation of the Israel-Hezbollah war began in March, with the goal of reaching an estimated 1.4 million people in Lebanon who need humanitarian assistance.

These requests come as Israel continues to carry out fresh strikes in the south of the country.
