Anthony Head, the British actor known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, has died at the age of 72. His family announced on Friday that he passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, due to complications from pneumonia.
Head first found fame in the 1980s as a pitchman for Nescafe instant coffee, appearing as one half of a romantic couple in a series of advertisements. He later became a mainstay of influential television, appearing in shows such as Merlin and Little Britain.
He achieved widespread recognition in the United States as the librarian and mentor Rupert Giles in the cult-favorite supernatural series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 2003. More recently, he appeared in the series Ted Lasso, playing another character named Rupert.
