Kuwait Detains US-Kuwaiti Journalist Over Iran War Posts

Kuwaiti authorities have detained U.S.-Kuwaiti journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin for six weeks, according to a media watchdog. The detention occurs amid a broader crackdown across Gulf nations targeting individuals for filming or posting footage related to the Iran war.

The award-winning journalist was reportedly detained last month and is facing prosecution in a special tribunal.

The Committee to Protect Journalists reports that Shihab-Eldin may have been charged with ‘spreading false information’. Kuwait has not publicly commented on the case.
