Memphis police announced on Wednesday the discovery of the remains of three young children in a wooded area in Tennessee. Police Chief Cerelyn Davis confirmed the finding and stated that the department is currently investigating.
The children are believed to have been between three and seven years old. Authorities indicated that the remains had likely been in the wooded area for several years.
Chief Davis described the gruesome discovery as heartbreaking. Officials noted that the remains did not match local missing persons reports.
