armed conflict defense & military

A tanker traveling southbound off the coast of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a projectile. The incident occurred east of Limah, where the strike caused a fire on the vessel. No casualties have been reported.

The vessel has been described as an oil tanker by the British military and a liquified natural gas tanker by Iranian state television. Iranian state media further claimed the ship was carrying natural gas from Qatar.

Iranian state television stated that the tanker came under attack after ignoring warnings, although Tehran has not directly claimed responsibility for the assault. While the British maritime agency UKMTO described the projectile as unknown and no one has officially claimed responsibility, Iran is suspected of similar recent attacks.
