Jetstar and Qatar planes near-miss at Sydney Airport triggers investigation

Two planes narrowly avoided a collision on the tarmac at Sydney Airport at 7am on Sunday. A Jetstar A320 was forced to brake firmly to avoid a Qatar Airways Boeing 777 that had been towed into its path.

Both aircraft stopped abruptly during the incident. As a result of the sudden braking, a Jetstar cabin crew member aboard the A320 was injured.

An investigation has been launched to determine what caused the near-miss collision. The incident occurred while Australia's busiest airport continues to struggle with staff shortages.
