Ukraine drones strike Russian tankers and oil facilities amid fuel shortages

defense & military

Ukrainian drones have launched a campaign targeting Russian energy infrastructure, oil refineries, and military assets. Recent overnight attacks have hit numerous industrial sites and a dozen Russian tankers in the Sea of Azov, including two that were set ablaze. These operations are designed to disrupt fuel supplies to Russian forces, target supply routes and financing sources, and isolate Moscow-occupied Crimea.

The persistent strikes have crippled oil refineries across the country, triggering a widespread fuel crisis and gasoline shortages throughout Russia. Local authorities reported that recent overnight drone attacks damaged two empty oil tankers and killed one person. The attacks have expanded in scope to target vessels bringing fuel to southern Russia.

In response, Russia fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv, marking its third such attack in less than a week and killing at least one person. Amidst these developments, U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot air defense systems.
