A news helicopter belonging to an NBC news affiliate crashed in the Chatsworth neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday evening. The aircraft came down near a one-storey commercial building and burst into flames, killing at least three people, including a pedestrian.
The helicopter was covering a separate deadly Metro bus collision from the air when the incident occurred. The bus crash, which happened hours earlier in the San Fernando Valley, left at least two people dead and six others injured.
Fire officials stated that the cause of the helicopter crash is currently unclear. In addition to the fatalities, one patient was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
