Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, has generated the largest opening weekend ticket sales of any film this year. The superhero movie began with a record $168 million opening day from 4,487 theaters in the U.S. and Canada.
Sony Pictures stated the film set the record for the highest domestic opening weekend of all time with $360 million in ticket sales, breaking the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame.
Other estimates place the domestic opening at $355 million, which would be the second-highest debut in Hollywood history. This total is just a few million shy of the $357 million opening achieved by Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
