At least 24 people have died after heavy rains triggered flooding and landslides in the capital cities of Ghana and Ivory Coast. In Ghana, torrential rains flooded large parts of the country, including the capital, Accra.

The Ghana National Fire Service reported on Tuesday that rescue operations are still under way. According to the Greater Accra Regional Fire Command, crews have rescued more than 400 people.

As more rain is expected to come, people have been urged to relocate to high ground or stay indoors.
