Meta Platforms Inc. and CEO Mark Zuckerberg have announced the release of Muse Code, the company's first AI coding agent. Developed by AI chief Alexandr Wang, the tool is part of a strategic effort to challenge leading artificial intelligence labs OpenAI and Anthropic PBC.

The launch comes as Meta ramps up its investments in AI models and services to compete with its rivals. The company claims that Muse Code can handle complex tasks within complex software.

Pressed by investors to generate revenue from AI, Meta states that its new offering will cost less than popular alternatives.
