Mexican military captures top Jalisco cartel leader 'El Jardinero'

crime & law

Mexican special forces have arrested Audias Flores, known as "El Jardinero," a top commander of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Security minister Omar Garcia Harfuch announced on Monday that the operation took place in the western state of Nayarit.

The Mexican Navy stated that special forces apprehended the leader without a single shot being fired after he was found hiding in a ditch. This capture deals another blow to the country's most powerful criminal enterprise.

Flores was a leading member of the cartel and a possible successor to "El Mencho," who was killed in a dramatic military operation two months ago.
