British counterterrorism police have re-arrested two men on suspicion of assisting Iranian intelligence in a plot targeting the RAF Fairford air base. The base, located in western England, is run by the United States and has been used by U.S. bombers to strike Iran during this year's war.

The individuals involved are a 24-year-old British national and a 25-year-old dual U.K.-Iranian national. Police stated that the men were arrested under the National Security Act and were believed to be working on behalf of Iran.

The re-arrests are part of an investigation into a suspected terror plot that took place on September 27. The duo had previously been arrested for their suspected links to the activity at the air base where American planes were stored.
