FBI disrupts alleged plot targeting White House UFC event

FBI Director Kash Patel announced Tuesday that law enforcement disrupted an alleged plot to attack a mixed martial arts event held at the White House on Sunday. The event, referred to as the UFC America 250 or UFC Freedom 250, took place on the South Lawn and was attended by President Donald Trump.

The FBI learned of the potential threat four days before the event. Investigators identified a network of 23 people involved in the plot who communicated through a Signal chat.

Multiple individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the planned attack, with reports indicating at least five people are currently detained. The specific nature of the threat was not immediately disclosed, though additional details are expected to be released once charges are unsealed later Tuesday.
