Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard will not race for the remainder of the season as he recovers from a fractured collarbone. The 29-year-old Dane suffered the injury during the 15th stage of the Tour de France in July.
The announcement from Team Visma-Lease a Bike confirms that Vingegaard will miss the UCI world road championships in Montreal on September 27 and the one-day classic Tour of Lombardy on October 10. Vingegaard stated that the injury delayed the start of his training, making it impossible to return to a top level of performance in the coming period.
Prior to the injury, Vingegaard enjoyed a successful first half of the season, winning Paris-Nice and the Giro d’Italia to complete a career sweep of the three Grand Tours. His focus has now shifted to preparing optimally for the goals of the 2027 season.
