Russia's highest court has ordered the removal of the Yabloko party from the ballot in next month's parliamentary election. Yabloko is the only officially registered party that opposes Moscow's military action in Ukraine.
The ruling follows a lawsuit filed on August 7 by the pro-Kremlin nationalist Rodina party, which sought to exclude Yabloko from the elections.
On Tuesday, August 11, voters and supporters of the anti-war party criticized the Supreme Court's decision. Recent polls had indicated that the liberal-leaning party could have won seats in the upcoming parliamentary vote.
