Spain's World Cup-winning team returned home Monday afternoon following their second World Cup title victory. La Roja secured the championship on Sunday after defeating Argentina in the final with an extra-time goal scored by Ferran Torres.

After flying from the United States to Madrid, the players were received by King Felipe VI and the royal family, as well as Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, before beginning their victory tour.

The champions traveled through central Madrid in an open-top bus toward Cibeles Square, where they were greeted by tens of thousands of fans along historic avenues. With an estimated crowd of almost two million people celebrating, including supporters on balconies and bus stops, the players waved to the public and passed around the gleaming World Cup trophy.
