American R&B singer Chris Brown was handed an eight-month suspended sentence on Monday in a British court. The 37-year-old Grammy-winning artist will avoid immediate imprisonment unless he commits another offense within the next year.

Brown had previously pleaded guilty to affray following an incident in February 2023. The singer attacked a music producer and former friend at the Tape private members’ club, a nightclub located in Mayfair, central London.

During the brawl on the dancefloor, Brown struck the man repeatedly in the head with a heavy tequila bottle.

Fans of the musician were seen cheering as he walked free from the court following the sentencing.
