Israel detains over 70 in West Bank amid deadly violence and settler attacks

Violence broke out Friday morning around Nablus in the occupied West Bank after armed Israeli settlers approached a Palestinian village. The resulting shootout left four Palestinian villagers and two Israeli soldiers dead.

In response, the Israeli military launched a crackdown, detaining over 70 suspects across the territory overnight and on Saturday. Troops remained deployed in the village of Tell, where Friday's clashes were centered, and Palestinians reported searches that included raids on a hospital in Nablus. Terrified residents continue to brace for further military and settler attacks as incursions and arrests remain ongoing.

Following the escalation, the Israeli government ordered the army to accelerate illegal settlements. Meanwhile, a protest group reported that at least 200 people demonstrated in the Israeli capital.
