Brazilian Senator and defeated presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro has reportedly left Brazil for the United States following his loss in Sunday's presidential election. This departure comes despite a Supreme Court order requiring him to surrender his passports as part of a money-laundering probe and investigation into alleged financial crimes, charges which Bolsonaro denies.
On Monday, Bolsonaro shared a video on social media stating he had been barred from leaving the country and served notice to hand over his passports. However, sources indicate that the senator fled his home country, and his passports were subsequently canceled on Tuesday. While some of his political allies have accepted the election results, Donald Trump described the election as rigged.
The U.S. State Department and the Trump administration have announced plans to grant visas to Bolsonaro and his family to enter the United States. Currently, Bolsonaro's exact whereabouts remain unclear, and his spokesperson has not commented.
