Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has reached an agreement to join Chilean side Colo Colo, South America's biggest soccer team. Club president Anibal Mosa confirmed the signing on Friday, stating that the 40-year-old free agent will travel to Chile to undergo a medical before being officially presented at the Estadio Monumental.
Vozinha made global headlines and earned plaudits as one of the World Cup's biggest surprise packages during Cape Verde's historic run. He was voted into FIFA's fan-selected World Cup dream team after helping tournament debutants hold eventual champions Spain to a goalless draw and pushing eventual runners-up Argentina into extra time in the last 32.
Mosa noted that Vozinha's World Cup performances earned him the move, while acknowledging the signing also carries marketing appeal. Before the World Cup, the veteran goalkeeper had left Portuguese second-tier side Chaves. While the deal is being finalized, Colo Colo teased the move on social media with an image featuring the player's trademark curly hair.
