World number two Carlos Alcaraz announced on Tuesday that he is withdrawing from Wimbledon and the grass-court season, including the warmup event at Queen's Club. The seven-times Grand Slam champion is pulling out due to a lingering right wrist injury sustained in April at the Barcelona Open.

Alcaraz, a former world number one, stated on social media that while his recovery is going well and he is feeling much better, he is still not ready to compete. He expressed that he will miss the two special tournaments and intends to continue working to return as soon as possible.

The injury has already forced Alcaraz to withdraw from the French Open, a tournament he won the last two years. This year began with Alcaraz winning the Australian Open, making him the youngest man ever to win all four major titles.

A two-time Wimbledon champion, Alcaraz won back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024, defeating Novak Djokovic in both finals. He also lost in a final last year to Jannik Sinner in another chapter of a generational rivalry.
