Nepal and Tibet are reeling from catastrophic Himalayan floods that began on August 26, which have killed more than 1,300 people. According to Nepal's disaster management agency, search teams are racing to find more than 5,500 people who remain missing, including foreigners.
To honor the victims, Nepal observed a day of mourning with government offices lowering flags to half-mast and family members concluding mourning rituals.
On the 13th day after the disaster, rescue efforts have increasingly focused on 12 hydropower projects where about 900 workers are missing. Authorities report that between 121 and 500 people could be trapped in various tunnels.
Despite the scale of the tragedy, four people have been rescued in Nepal in recent days as search operations continue.
