Starc takes five wickets as Australia skittle Bangladesh for 64 in second test

sports

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to field on Saturday in the second and final test against Bangladesh in Mackay, Queensland. Following a shock defeat in the series opener, Australia looked to respond on a bouncy, Gabba-style wicket.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc delivered a brutal spell of swing bowling, removing opener Shadman Islam with the first ball of the match. Starc took five wickets in his first four overs, claiming five wickets in just 22 balls during the first session. Bangladesh struggled against the quick bowling, staggering to lunch at 35 for six before being bowled out for 64 in their first innings.

In response, Australia were 50 for three at tea. While Bangladesh rallied with a six-wicket haul from Shoriful Islam, Australia ended the roller-coaster first day with a 101-run lead. Both Mitchell Starc and Shoriful Islam finished the day with six-wicket hauls in a wicket bonanza.
