More than $71 billion needed over next decade to rebuild Gaza, EU-UN report

humanitarian crisis international aid

An assessment by the European Union, United Nations, and World Bank indicates that Gaza requires an estimated $71.4 billion over the next decade for recovery and reconstruction. This follows two years of war that have devastated most of the Palestinian territory, resulting in an unprecedented loss of life and a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.

Of the total amount, $33 billion is required within the first 18 months to restore essential services, rebuild critical infrastructure, and support economic recovery.

The conflict has left most people displaced, with extensive damage to homes, hospitals, and schools. The devastated sectors identified in the assessment include housing, health, education, commerce, and agriculture.
