Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have arrived in Washington to attend the funeral of former U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. Graham, who died suddenly on July 11, was a close ally of both leaders and had forcefully lobbied Washington to back both countries during their respective conflicts.
The visit comes at a time when world leaders are eager to meet with Donald Trump amid ongoing wars. For Netanyahu and Zelenskyy, the goal is to win the ear of Trump at pivotal moments while U.S. policy toward the wars in Iran and Ukraine remains in a state of flux.
On the day of the funeral, both leaders held closed-door talks with Trump. The agenda for these meetings was topped by discussions regarding Iran and Ukraine.
