Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that Nidal Malik Hasan, a former Army major and psychiatrist, will be executed by firing squad. The execution, approved by President Donald Trump, is scheduled for Thursday, December 3, at 1 p.m. at Fort Hood, Texas. This will mark the first execution carried out by the United States military since 1961.
Hasan was convicted of killing 13 people and injuring 32 others in a 2009 mass shooting at the Fort Hood military base. Twelve of the dead and 30 of the wounded were soldiers.
The Pentagon clarified that the execution will be a public event and will be livestreamed. Secretary Hegseth, speaking in interviews with Jack Posobiec and Real America’s Voice, stated that the public would be able to watch the proceeding.
