Synagogue Attack Inspired by Hezbollah, FBI Says

The FBI has classified the attack on the largest Jewish temple in Michigan earlier this month as an act of terrorism inspired by Hezbollah. The assailant, Ayman Ghazali, a 41-year-old naturalized US citizen from Lebanon, drove his truck into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township on March 12th.

Prior to the attack, Ghazali frequently consumed content linked to the Iran-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah online. A video recorded before the incident showed Ghazali stating his intent to “kill as many of them as I possibly can”.

Jennifer Runyan, head of the FBI’s Detroit field office, confirmed Ghazali was inspired by Hezbollah. The investigation continues into the motivations and planning behind the attack.
