Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced in an interview with Al Jazeera on Sunday that Syria is seeking to reach a security agreement with Israel. The proposed deal would involve the participation of several other countries.

President al-Sharaa stated that a successful agreement could pave the way for comprehensive peace between the two nations. However, he emphasized that such a deal would not compromise Syria's right to the Golan Heights.

In the same interview, the Syrian President also issued a warning regarding potential chaos in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials have indicated their intention to maintain forces within a security zone in southern Syria, where they are seeking the establishment of a broader demilitarized zone.
