Cristiano Ronaldo suspended for 30 days and fined for Portugal camp walkout

sports football

The Portuguese Football Association has suspended 41-year-old forward Cristiano Ronaldo for 30 days. The federation's disciplinary council upheld the charge in full and imposed a fine of 255 euros after the player left the national team camp.

The incident occurred on September 30, when Ronaldo walked out of the international camp before a training session at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, ahead of a Nations League match against Denmark. The departure followed a rift with coach Jorge Jesus over Ronaldo's role in the side. Ronaldo accused Jesus of twice breaking his word about his role after he served as an unused substitute against Norway.

Coach Jorge Jesus denied making any agreement with Ronaldo but has left the door open for his return following Portugal's 2-1 win. The disciplinary committee granted the minimum penalty, citing the remorse shown in a statement issued by Ronaldo on October 6.
