Eight children between the ages of one and 14 were killed early Sunday morning in a series of domestic-related shootings in Shreveport, Louisiana. Police Chief Wayne Smith reported that a total of 10 people were shot across three different locations. The incident, which began around 6 a.m., was described by authorities as a domestic disturbance.

The young victims ranged in age from 18 months to 14 years, with some being related to the suspect. In addition to the eight children killed, two women survived being shot in the head, and a young boy was injured after jumping from a roof.

The gunman died following a police pursuit into Bossier City. After stealing a car while leaving the scenes of the shootings, the suspect was followed by officers and was fatally shot during the chase. State police confirmed that no officers were harmed during the encounter.

Chief Smith described the crime scene as extensive and unlike anything officers had previously seen. Louisiana State Police detectives have been asked by Shreveport police to investigate the events. State police are currently requesting any pictures, video, or information from the public to assist in their investigation.
