A major fire in southern Norway destroyed more than 100 homes and forced hundreds of people to evacuate on Friday. The blaze occurred in the city of Drammen, located roughly 34 kilometers southwest of Oslo.

The fire began in a townhouse around 3:30 p.m. Friday before spreading through the area and into nearby forests. Rescue officials reported that firefighters battled to contain the flames amid strong winds, with efforts to bring the blaze under control continuing into Saturday morning.

Hundreds of displaced residents sought refuge at an evacuation center. While the cause of the fire remains unclear, police stated that no residents have been reported missing.
