Trump's 250-foot Washington arch design approved by Trump-appointed panel

The Commission of Fine Arts has approved designs for a proposed 250-foot triumphal arch in Washington DC, a project dubbed the Arc de Trump. The structure, which would be located near Arlington National Cemetery, received approval from a panel composed of Trump appointees despite overwhelming public opposition.

The arch would soar 250 feet, or 76 meters, from its base to a torch held aloft by a Lady Liberty-like figure atop the structure. At this height, the monument would dwarf the Lincoln Memorial and reach nearly half the height of the Washington Monument, which stands about 555 feet tall.

The proposal is now set to be reviewed by the National Capital Planning Commission, another federal panel that oversees planning for federal buildings and land. This comes as the plan receives further review from a federal agency that suggested changes before approving the concept last month.
