Amazon.com Inc. is expanding its partnership with Anthropic PBC, investing an additional $5 billion with plans to increase the total investment to as much as $25 billion over time. This funding is in addition to the $8 billion Amazon had already invested in the AI company.

As part of the pact, Anthropic has committed to spending over $100 billion on Amazon cloud services and technologies over the next decade. These resources will be used to help build and deploy AI systems.

The collaboration also provides Anthropic with significant computing capacity, securing up to 5 gigawatts of power. This agreement builds on an existing partnership that stretches back three years, during which Amazon previously built an AI cluster called Project Rainier to host Anthropic’s internal workloads.
