A 22-year-old British national was arrested in central London on Tuesday on suspicion of terrorism offences. The man was detained in Westminster in connection with a suspected plot to carry out an attack on the RAF Fairford airbase.
Counter-terrorism policing stated that the man is suspected of the preparation of terrorist acts under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The RAF Fairford airbase is used by the United States to strike Iran.
The man is the seventh person to be arrested by police investigating an incident at the base last month. Six other men in their 20s who were previously arrested in connection with the investigation remain on police bail.
