A wave of attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia early Tuesday wounded at least 73 people. The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen responded by vowing to act firmly against the latest outbreak of hostilities.

Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, a spokesman for the coalition, stated that the rebels targeted civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Jazan, Najran, and Khamis Mushait. The Houthis claimed their targets included Aramco facilities, King Khalid air base, and Abha Airport.

The coalition announced it will take all necessary operational measures to deter the Houthi militia with utmost resolve. These attacks occurred after the rebels accused Saudi Arabia of attacking a prison in Yemen’s northern province of Jawf, amid a weekslong escalation of fighting that has shattered a four-year truce in the civil war.
