Welsh pop singer Bonnie Tyler is no longer in a coma but remains very unwell in intensive care at a hospital in Faro, Portugal. The 75-year-old Grammy-nominated star, known for the 1983 hit Total Eclipse of the Heart, was hospitalized in May for emergency intestinal surgery to treat a perforated bowel.

Tyler was placed in an induced coma following the procedure. According to an update on her official website and a statement from her family, she has since emerged from the coma. While her condition is improving, it is described as a slow process.

Doctors remain confident that the gravelly voiced singer will make a good recovery, though they expect it will take time. Tyler, a coal miner's daughter from Wales, rose to fame with the 1978 hit It's a Heartache before recording Total Eclipse of the Heart, which was written by Jim Steinman.

Due to her health condition, all scheduled shows through August have been canceled or postponed. However, representatives remain hopeful that concerts scheduled for the autumn will still take place.
