NATO intercepts third Iranian missile over Turkey
NATO forces intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile that entered Turkish airspace Friday, according to Turkey’s Defense Ministry. This marks the third such interception over Turkey since the start of the conflict in Iran. The ministry has not disclosed the location of the intercept. However, reports from residents near Incirlik Air Base, a U.S. troop-hosting facility, indicate hearing sirens and a loud explosion. These incidents are increasingly challenging for Turkey and the NATO alliance as a whole. Despite the repeated airspace violations, Turkey has not requested formal assistance or protection from its alliance partners.
