At least 25 people were killed and dozens injured in a stampede at Haiti’s Laferriere Citadel, a mountaintop fortress and popular tourist attraction, over the weekend. The incident occurred during an annual celebration.
Authorities have arrested seven suspects in connection with the tragedy, including five police officers. Following the event, the government dismissed two state officials.
The Haitian government has declared three days of national mourning in response to the deadly stampede at the historic citadel in the north of the country.
