Russell Brand, a 51-year-old British actor and comedian, has appeared in London's Southwark Crown Court for the start of his trial on rape and sexual assault charges.
Brand faces three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. These charges involve allegations from six women spanning a ten-year period from 1999 to 2009.
Jury selection began on Monday. By the second day of court, a jury consisting of eight men and four women had been selected.
Brand has pleaded not guilty and denies all of the charges. The prosecution is expected to open its case on Wednesday.
