Man arrested for arson in devastating Spokane wildfire destroying 700 buildings

Authorities in Washington state have arrested 37-year-old Aaron Farinacci late Monday afternoon in connection with the Old Trails Fire in Spokane County. The Spokane County sheriff said Farinacci is suspected of intentionally starting the wildfire.

The fire has burned through more than 3,200 hectares of forest in the state's second city, Spokane. To date, 700 buildings have been destroyed.

The devastating wildfires have displaced about 65,000 people from their homes. Firefighters have still not contained the blaze.
