A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and wounded a man on Sunday afternoon on the north side of Austin, Texas. According to local officials, the officer rammed the man's car before exiting the federal vehicle and opening fire at least five times.

The unnamed man was shot once in the torso and is currently in serious but stable condition at a hospital. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis confirmed these details during a news conference held with the mayor and other city officials.

Following the shooting, anti-ICE protesters gathered at the scene in a push for transparency. This incident is the latest tied to the Trump administration’s aggressive push to deport undocumented people.
