Hereditary Prince Alois announced during a speech marking the country's national day that Liechtenstein's rules of succession will be changed. The royal house stated that these updates will allow a woman to inherit the principality's throne in the future.
The declaration grants women equal rights within the ruling family, modifying the laws governing the inheritance of the throne.
However, this change is not expected to affect the top of the line of succession for the royal house in the immediate future.
