Defense officials are pressuring military contractors to produce munitions significantly faster. A Pentagon spokesman stated the department is focused on boosting munitions acquisitions to provide warfighters with the weapons they need at the pace the threat demands.
These directives come amid reported tensions regarding a critical U.S. munitions shortage. The shortage reportedly prompted President Trump to chew out Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last week at Camp David.
However, President Trump has denied that the United States is running low on munitions, warning of punishment for those who say there is a shortage.
